Description
The new Miniestadi was built within the FCB facilities in Sant Joan d’Espí, named Johan Cruyff, as a replacement for the previous one, alredy demolished.
Design and location
The project of the new regional hospital connects the existing hospital complex with the surrounding urban fabric. The building adapts to the topography of the site, which allows the organisation of pathways and the programme through the different accesses from the street, reducing internal circulation distances.
The arrangement of the structure follows a single span module of 7.60m between frames throughout most of the complex. This order and rationalisation of the structural scheme facilitate the repetition of elements, optimisation of the manufacturing and construction processes, improving project control and minimising errors.
Distribution and spaces
A large part of the building is located below ground level to reduce the visual impact, and the lighting for this part of the building is solved with large interior courtyards. Above ground, the building is organised into two main volumes, one for hospitalization and the other for outpatient consultations.
