A New Office Building Project in Barcelona

The Can Ricart office building, developed by BATLLE I ROIG Arquitectes and promoted by DOS PUNTOS, is a benchmark for structural innovation in new construction. Located in Barcelona, the building has an L-shaped layout with dimensions of 62 meters on Calle Bilbao and 70 meters deep.

Structure and BIM Methodology

The entire project was developed using BIM methodology, optimizing both planning and execution. The horizontal structure is resolved with solid slabs in the underground levels and post-tensioned sandwich slabs above ground, supporting large spans with flat beams concentrating the post-tensioning.

Solutions for Open Spaces and Efficient Containment

The vertical structure consists of concrete columns allowing for open-plan spaces. In the underground levels, columns are doubled to simplify and economize the slab design. The foundation includes in-situ piles and an under-pressure slab, while containment is ensured with 60 cm thick reinforced concrete walls and anchors positioned above the water table.
