Description
The new athletics and football stadium project in the city of Malmö, developed by the Swedish firm DINELLJOHANSSON in collaboration with bis, is conceived as a structure that harmonizes architecture and sustainability, engages with its surroundings, and addresses the climate challenges set by the 2030 Agenda.
Structural design
The structure of the new stadium combines sustainability and efficiency through the use of recycled materials and prefabricated systems. It is organized in concentric frames made of steel, concrete and wood, optimizing each material according to its function. This hybrid solution enables fast, durable, and adaptable construction across the various stadium zones.
Facilities
The stadium includes fully backed-up electrical systems, low-voltage rings by level, and solar energy with storage capability. The HVAC system is connected to the district heating network, using efficient equipment and energy recovery. Lighting complies with international standards, offering uniform light and a secondary system for spectators.
Sustainability
The design prioritizes energy efficiency, the use of renewable energies, and the reuse of natural resources such as water. Rainwater and irrigation water are collected for non-potable uses, reducing overall consumption. The entire system meets the sustainability criteria set by the 2030 Agenda and the European Taxonomy.
