Description
The stadium renovation is a project developed by a joint venture in which bis is involved. Located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it is part of an ambitious project aimed at modernising its facilities and adapting it to FIFA standards for the 2030 World Cup. The proposal aims to enhance the spectator experience, optimise accessibility, and turn the venue into an architectural and urban landmark.
Structural design
The structural design of the stadium is based on a configuration of expanded stands, with a new arrangement in the grandstand and curve areas, reducing the distance to the playing field and improving visibility. Additionally, the roof, inspired by the Canarian lateen sail, protects spectators without creating a negative visual impact on the urban environment.
Stadium facilities
The facilities have been redesigned to optimise access and internal circulation, differentiating routes for spectators, athletes, the press, and technical staff. New VIP spaces, Hospitality areas, and high-performance sports operation zones have been integrated, ensuring their functionality and versatility for various events.
Sustainability and circularity
The stadium incorporates photovoltaic energy on its roof, passive ventilation systems, rainwater collection, and an envelope optimised for energy savings. Circular construction criteria have been applied using recycled materials and low environmental impact economic strategies.
