Description

The project is about the refurbishment and extension of the cellar of Vila-Seca, with the aim of converting it into a public facility, keeping the general volumetry and adding a new annexed building and a stage box.

A Heritage Renovation Project in Vila-seca

The renovation of Celler de Vila-seca, led by ESPINET / UBACH ARQUITECTES and promoted by the Vila-seca City Council, aims to transform this novecentist winery into a modern municipal facility. The intervention respects the original volumetry while adding a new building and a scenic box in the main hall.

Original Structure and Expansion

The original structure, characterized by load-bearing walls and buttresses, is preserved with careful restoration. The interior features stone pillars supporting brick diaphragm arches, while the lateral naves are covered with lowered semicircular arches. The secondary nave relies on stone walls with brick vaults and wooden trusses.

Modernization and New Spaces

The project includes the addition of a reinforced concrete scenic box at the rear of the main nave and a new service pavilion. The structure of this new volume is resolved with a slab resting on variable-depth beams, with a lightweight roof supported by metal columns.
